College football bowl games can be uncomfortable, whether it's a coach facing his former team, schools playing for a second time in a single season, or one-time rivals meeting again after tradition was shoved aside for conference realignment.

Mississippi State and Texas Tech are playing in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee, on Tuesday, and it's likely to be uncomfortable. The app is available on the Disney and ESPN websites.

It will be the first time that Mike Leach will face the Red Raiders since Texas Tech fired him in December of 2009. Texas Tech officials said they fired him with cause and didn't owe him anything. Tech owes him millions of dollars for what he was due under his contract, according to his lawyers.

"They owe me for the last time they won nine games, so maybe they'll deliver the check," he said earlier this month. We'll see what happens at the Liberty Bowl.

He doesn't seem to be ready to quit, even though he has a law degree from Pepperdine. He has offered to settle with Texas Tech for about $2.4 million, which would include an $800,000 longevity bonus he was set to receive the day after he was fired, plus about $1.6 million in other incentives he said he was owed.

When he was fired in 2009, Texas Tech's winningest coach in history, Mike Leach, had 84 victories from 2000 to 2009.

"No one can dispute that they owe me money, it's irrefutable," he said. They owe me more than the $2.4 million. They owe me for four more years, but I've always said that I'd settle for a million dollars and an acknowledgement that I didn't do anything wrong.

Texas Tech is a state entity with immunity, so it's not possible for the coach to bring monetary damages. The Texas Supreme Court didn't comment on the case in the next year.

A public relations firm hired by Craig James was sued by Texas Tech coach Mike Leach. James' son, Adam, was ordered to stand for hours in a dark place after he got a concussion, and it was accused of being ordered by the man. A Texas judge granted summary judgment in favor of James and the public relations firm. The Texas Supreme Court denied the appeal.

Texas Tech officials are not concerned about the matter with Leach.

The courts ruled in favor of Mike Leach, according to a Texas Tech spokesman. The issue has been resolved and we are moving forward. The future of Texas Tech football is something we are excited about.

The monetary dispute is still going on. His lawyers filed a new lawsuit against Texas Tech last week. The university was accused of failing to fulfill its obligations under Texas open records laws by a lawsuit filed on behalf of a consulting firm.

"I think he wants the records to know why he was terminated," said Julie Pettit, one of the lawyers. The circumstances were suspicious to begin with and the more we dig the more suspicious they seem. He wants the truth to come out about what happened when he was terminated.

Wayne Dolcefino, a former investigative reporter with the ABC station in Houston, was hired by Texas Tech to investigate their conduct before their coach was fired. Telephone records, emails, and other materials from the school have been sought by Dolcefino. Texas Tech denied records about sexual assault allegations.

"Obviously they're still hiding documents, from our perspective," he said. It's like where Jimmy Hoffa was buried. That's what they do. We have enough evidence to show that they lied about him, that there were never any other complaints, and that this investigation was never done. They now blame him for that, and their story is that because he sued them, they didn't finish the investigation, which is exactly the opposite of what you would do. You would want to finish the investigation to prove that you didn't screw the guy over.

The Liberty Bowl will be the first time that Texas Tech and Mikell will face off on a football field.

"I love Texas Tech," he said. I had the best years of my life at Texas Tech. The Texas Tech fans are fantastic and on my side. I have no problem with the Tech fans, they would like to see this reconciled. The best football years at Tech were our 10 years there. The problem was at the top.
