The saga of a family whose lives would check all the boxes for a reality TV show has only just begun after the Christmas Day shooting of a fabulously wealthy Long Island couple.
There is a company-owning husband, a trophy wife matron of the house, and their go-his-own-way son who is away from the family business.
Family tensions exploded about 10 a.m. Police said that the Tomassetti's son, who was muscular, shot his father in the back and mother in the head on Christmas morning.
The parents were rushed to the hospital.
The son ran out of the circular driveway and into the street where locals need a permit to park.
He was arrested in New Jersey after being tracked by the gps device.
Tomassetti boasted on his website that he can bench press more than 600 pounds and dead-lift more than 700.
As detectives tried to piece together a motive and neighbors tried to make sense of a shooting on their street, a co-worker of the suspect, a personal trainer at Retro Fitness in Queens, said the younger Tomassetti was all about business.
He has only been here for a few weeks. The co-worker said that he was fresh. He was building up his clientele. He was a cool guy. Cool guy would come in and handle his business. We all got along. He was motivational.
His low key nature was not enough to keep him out of the headlines.
The Bank of America headquarters and Goldman Sachs headquarters were both built by the construction giant that was the grandfather for whom he was named.
The grandfather, who owned the construction chain Laquila Group, was accused of making thousands of dollars in illegal payoffs to union officials over a 10-year period, and was under indictment for having ties to organized crime. He denied the accusations.
The contract for excavation and foundation work at 1 World Trade Center was secured by one of his sons.
In 1997, Tomassetti and his father were arrested for operating an illegal waste transfer station near the family company's Brooklyn headquarters.
Vincenza Tomassetti made headlines as well. She was featured in a 2001 article about how she took steps to keep younger women away.
She told the interviewer that she needed to look her best at social functions. There is no excuse not to use the technology that we have today.
She said that there was always the next younger model.
My husband is exposed to a lot of beautiful women because he works in Manhattan. I used to be more trusting, but it is harder as you get older.
She said she sat in on interviews with her husband's construction firm.
She said she always has a say in who is hired. I wouldn't let him take on a young girl. Why put something under someone's nose? He is alive and well.
Not then. The injuries he suffered from the shooting were more extensive than hers.

The Los Angeles Police Department was expected to release video footage on Monday from the accidental shooting of a teenage girl killed in a clothing store when a bullet pierced the wall of her dressing room as officers opened fire on an assault suspect. The stray round that struck the 14-year-old girl, identified in local media accounts as Valentina Orellana-Peralta, apparently was fired inadvertently into the changing room by an LAPD officer on the other side of the wall. The girl and her mother were shopping for a dress for her upcoming 15th birthday when the shooting happened.
