Players need help over festive schedule, says Jurgen Klopp

The side is second in the league going into Tuesday's game.

Talking about the festive schedule is something the players need help with, according to the manager.

The German is against teams having to play games on 26 and 28 December.

The Reds avoided a situation like that this year, as their game against Leeds United on 26 December was postponed because of Covid-19 cases.

"The situation should not be like this," said Klopp.

We could have played on Boxing Day and that would have been no problem at all because so many people think it's tradition.

I think we can find solutions for that because it's true, but playing on the 26th and the 28th is just not right.

It's not hard to play football in a different way. Where's the problem on the 26th and 29th?

Jordan Henderson told the radio station that he was concerned that nobody takes player welfare seriously.

There has been an increase in Covid-19 cases, so when the game was called off, he called for someone to act.

The most recent round of testing returned a record 103 new positive cases, while 15 games have been called off in December because of coronaviruses.

"It would help the players, even without Covid, and the problem is now some teams have a proper Covid problem at the moment and you rush a smaller group of players through two games," said Klopp.

You should not need luck in these moments.

If we don't discuss it, it will stay like this. Maybe it stays like this, but the players need help from other areas.

It's a crazy schedule.

Brendan Rodgers has criticized the schedule with his team facing off against the Reds so soon after they were beaten by Manchester City.

Rodgers said that the schedule is ridiculous. For us to be playing on a Tuesday is ridiculous because players aren't fully recovered for 72 hours after a game.

It's very fast. It's a big challenge to play Manchester City andLiverpool in a row, especially with the squad they have.

We have to play the game. We'll do what we've done.

We will fight, keep working and we will do our very best, and that's what we're prepared to do on Tuesday.
