The image is called "chorus image" and is on thecdn.vox-cdn.com.
It is an appropriate name for The Vault.
The image is called XPG.
The XPG Vault is a concept mouse that has a built-in solid state drive to allow you to carry around your mouse and storage in one package. While a lot of gaming mice have built-in storage to let you easily carry your preferences from computer to computer, and the idea of a mouse doubling as a flash drive has been around for a long time, XPG is aiming a little higher. It is promising to make your gaming libraries portable.
There are no details in the press release about the Vault, but it does say that the current prototype can integrate up to 1 ton of solid state memory. It would imply that you could actually play games stored on the vault, given that it is a wired mouse. If one of the titles is not Call of Duty, there is enough room for a few.
The press release is light on information.
It is not clear what other levels of storage are available and if it will be upgradable. It would be a safe bet that the ADATA company that owns XPG makes the SSD. The press release doesn't include any specifications that people serious about mousing will care about. The company has a post about the Alpha mouse, which looks a lot like the vault. That one will use Pixart's PAW3335 sensor and have wireless capabilities at the cost of not having built-in storage.
It would be interesting to know how heavy the Vault is, whether you can actually play games off of it, or if it is just a demo.
It is possible that this is the most we will ever hear about this mouse, since it is being billed as a concept and prototype. It is possible that we could have a future where you walk up to the party with just your mouse, and that gives you access to all of the other people. When the parties are safe to have again.
