Pop culture gave us some bright spots. There were lots of ways to escape a year that was either good or bad, and there were plenty of good and bad ways to do so.
The things that we wanted or needed to be good ended up being great. If you know that a movie from the Disney company will give you 2.5 hours of entertainment, or that a movie from the streaming service will give you at least one hour of entertainment, then you're in for a treat. The things that you didn't expect to enjoy as much as you did, or the things you initially had mixed or negative thoughts on, are more interesting. It's always good to have that kind ofunpredictability.
There were a few pleasant surprises for me. I didn't think I'd get a lot of pleasure from Cowboy Bebop, but I did. I was not prepared for Masters of the Universe: Revelation to make the He-Man's corner of the universe worth caring about. Malignant, No Time to Die, and Dune were some of the movies that delighted me. After the E3 show, I was really taken in by the games, including the first-person shooter Boomerang X, the sci-fi adventure game Guardians of theGalaxy, and the flashy animation game Scarlet Nexus.
Tell us what you watched, played, or read this year that took you by surprise, as we close out the year. Is there something that you would like more than you actually did? Have a good holiday and let us know in the comments.
