Aston Villa 1-3 Chelsea: Thomas Tuchel criticises schedule and says his side 'are struggling'

Tuchel says that injury and covid-hit the Blues.

Tuchel said the schedule was not fair and that his side were struggling after sustaining more injuries.

On December 19th, the Premier League rejected a request by the Blues to have their draw against Wolves rejected.

"This cannot be the right way, but it's like it is," said Tuchel.

In the month of December, there have been 15 top-flight matches that have been postponed, but the Blues have played eight games in the month and have a game on Wednesday.

The absences of forwards Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, as well as defender Thiago Silva and N'Golo Kante, were the result of Covid-19.

"It's not fair," said Tuchel. We play against teams who prepare with games postponed, and who prepare with one week for these matches, because we've all been in bed for 10 days.

Even if we have Covid, they make us play all the time. There are new injuries and they won't stop. The people at the green table are making decisions.

We're pressing our players. I have full respect for what the players did. Changes are made because of injuries. We don't change for tactical reasons anymore.

Romelu Lukaku came on as a second-half substitute in the win over Villa and missed three matches because of Covid-19.

"I'm very concerned with my players but I'm very impressed with them," said Tuchel. We may have made a mistake by letting players play after corona and one or two training sessions.

"Obviously they made us play and so we play."

He said there was no chance of that happening and that he wanted five replacements in the league to help deal with the epidemic.

The only league that doesn't have five changes is ours.

The rule has been in the rest of Europe's top leagues since 2020.

Gary McAllister, who was standing in for boss Steven Gerrard after he tested positive for Covid, said that bringing back five subs was a must.

The team will have to make a miracle to face Spurs on Tuesday, just over 48 hours after their victory over West Ham, according to the boss.

We face a very strong side with no chance for training. Hasenhuttl said that they have to have a good hand in picking the right players.

If you want something from the premier league, we have to see who is fit, but we have no time to prepare. We will fight again.
