Don't Look Up, the new movie by Adam McKay, has jumped to the top of the list of shows on the streamer. Don't Look Up is an effective satire reflecting on the state of our society today, with a star-laden cast.

Don't Look Up starts like any other disaster movie. Kate Dibiasky is a PhD student who is looking at the sky to make a discovery. She sees a comet. Excited by her findings, she calls her professor. They calculate the trajectory of the comet. It is going to our planet Earth. Six months is a long time until impact. Kate and Dr. Mindy's warnings about the impending apocalypse in Don't Look Up are different from traditional disaster movies. The President of the United States and her son are more interested in being re-elected than in anything else. The Daily Rip is an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie and Jack that is more interested in creating a buzz than providing information. It is doomed.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Tyler Perry, and Jen Lawrence are in the movie "Don't Look Up".

Adam McKay wrote a movie about climate change. Everything he wrote came true, even after the pandemic. The film is very similar to what we have been through. The political class is too focused on their careers to think clearly about what needs to be done to save lives. Those who deny scientific evidence have no scientific background. A society that is too slow to react to real danger because of its preoccupation with gossip and entertainment.

The performances in Don't Look Up are perfect. The university professor who was nervous to speak in public was replaced by a confident man fronting the top magazines. Kate is a bright young scientist whose message is quickly obscured by stupid meme of herself. This over-qualified journalist seduces a nervous university professor with no remorse for his wife, and he is aided by the excellent Cate Blanchett. Scott Mescudi's portrayal of Ariana Grande's character in the movie is great, as she is more concerned about her celebrity relationship with DJ Chello than in any planet-killing comet. It's the President Orlean and her son that have echoes of reality. The film shows her telling her supporters not to believe the scientists when they say a comet is coming.

President Orlean is played by Meryl Streep in 'Don't Look Up'.

Don't Look Up made me think about the ways in which we all face death, or the prospect of death and its impending threat, and how it's inevitable. Each of us has a way of detecting death. Some accept it, some try to find a way to fight it, some try to defeat it, and others don't accept it, or think that this could only happen to someone else. How do you deal with death when you know it is coming? The film fails to portray this point effectively because it is too concerned with the absurdity of the politics that surround it.
