Spider-Man: No Way Home Crosses the Billion Dollar Mark

No Way Home has an overall take home of $1.05 billion, which is just a little bit behind Far From Home. The film earned $81.5 million over the weekend in North America, and has a total of $467.3 million internationally. The only movie to hit this milestone during the Pandemic was Sony Pictures' highest grossing film. The Battle at Lake Changjin was the top-grossing film of the year, but No Way Home is now the top-grossing film of the year. No Way Home is in the running for the Best Picture Oscar and Sony and Marvel will make all the money from it. The Chinese release of this movie is still missing, as none of the theatrical releases this year have yet to release there. Since it will be hitting Japan on January 7, there is still more money to be made.

Far From Home was the tenth highest-grossing movie in the megafranchise, but the closer to Tom Holland's first Spidey trilogy is the highest-grossing. It is the third-fastest film ever to hit a billion at 12 days, just behind the other two films, and it is still the top film for reaching that in five.

Sing 2 and The Matrix Resurrections took second and third place in North America. The sequel to Illumination and Universal's 2016 animal karaoke musical starring Taron Egerton, Scarlett Johansson, and Matthew McConaughey took $41 million. The divisive Resurrections has made over twenty million dollars. The numbers on the show have not been revealed. No Way Home will probably remain number one until the next big blockbuster hits, but it's worth noting that it's a respectful opener to one degree or another.
