The Military and Fenway Bowls were canceled because of issues with teams.

Boston College had over 40 players unavailable to play in the Military Bowl presented by Peraton. The Virginia team was unable to travel and play SMU in the bowl because of the positive test for COVID-19.

Boston College said it did not have enough players to field a team due to a number of issues.

Boston College made it through the entire year with only one positive COVID-19 case but did not play in a bowl game because of the toll the season took on everyone.

Boston College entered the season with its entire team and staff vaccine, but the highly contagious omicron variant has led to breakthrough cases across the country.

Boston College is in the Washington, D.C. area preparing for the bowl game.

Boston College coach Jeff Hafley said in a statement that this is not the way they wanted to end the season. We don't have enough players to play a game. My heart goes out to our seniors who will not have the chance to wear a BC jersey in their final year, and I can't thank them enough for their contributions to our program.

The team's planned departure date for the Fenway Bowl was changed after some players tested positive for drugs.

The entire team was tested Christmas morning and the test results revealed more positive tests that will prevent the team from participating in the game. Virginia was at 100% vaccination before the season began, with exceptions for medical and religious reasons.

The game would have been the last for Virginia under Mendenhall, who resigned earlier this month.

The Virginia team will not be able to play in the inaugural Fenway Bowl. It is unfortunate that Coach Mendenhall won't have a last chance to coach this group, as our team was very much looking forward to playing this game.

The Easy Post Hawai'i Bowl was canceled on Thursday after the University of Hawai'i announced it was pulling out of the game due to issues within the program. The game was supposed to take place in Honolulu.
