The starting job for the Carolinas' game on Sunday is not in question, despite the fact that they will start CamNewton.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the amount of playing time will be determined by the performance of Sam Darnold. With hopes that he will take over as the starter for the final two weeks of the season, he could wind up taking a majority of the snaps.
The last four games of the Carolinas' have seen a shell of their former self, as quarterback, as well as a loss. He's thrown for 622 yards and four touchdown against four turnovers, but has completed just 54.9% of his passes and averaged a career-low 5.5 yards per attempt.

There's no evidence to suggest that Darnold is any better than the other quarterbacks. He got the panthers off to a great start, but fell apart over the next six starts before he broke his throwing shoulder. He's had 1,986 yards and seven touchdown against 11 picks, putting up a higher pick up rate thanNewton has.

They're stuck with him on their roster because they traded a sixth-round pick and two second- and fourth-round picks for him. The team may see if it can save something from a bad decision by giving him a chance over the final three games.
