I have been looking for another chat app since I heard that my parents will no longer be able to use Hangouts. The platform that is beloved by the gaming community might be the one. I switched to the Firefox mobile browser on my phone because I was fed up with the news on the Chrome web browser. Like the desktop version, the mobile version of the browser can block trackers and script. Without these little things following you around, you can just surf the web, though some websites might break without being able to collect data on you. Changing your browser to Dark Mode or moving the search bar to the bottom of the screen will make it easier to use on the phone.

My current recipe management is a mess, I keep too many tabs open on the web and on my phone to find quick recipes. I can download the contents of my favorite recipes and save them in the app with Paprika, if they are available online and searchable by the search engine. If you want to make any changes to the original recipe, you can do that with the recipe you import. The app has a meal planning calendar, a grocery shopping list, and a pantry list. You can upgrade to the paid version of the app that allows you to store an unlimited number of recipes for $4.99.

Since IBM bought The Weather Company, I have been looking for a new weather app that is respectful of users' privacy. The weather app is called Weawow. It asks you to enter your location rather than demand continuous access to all your gps data, it doesn't serve ads with its forecasts, and it lets you opt out of sharing your location data with third parties. This app makes it easy to change the units of measurement for those of us who need to, has a nice interface, and lets me add it to my home screen with lots of options for customization.
