The Baltimore Ravens aren't ready to rule Lamar Jackson out for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, but they are preparing backup Tyler Huntley for a second straight start.

Jackson missed the Ravens' loss to the Packers with an ankle injury. It was the first time in his four-year career that he missed a game because of an injury.

The Ravens' outlook on Jackson was reported by Jeremy Fowler on SportsCenter on Friday.

The Ravens are keeping the door open, but they're preparing Tyler Huntley to start his second game. That seems to be the way this is going. I was told by a source that Lamar Jackson is such a player. Unless it's just a non-starter today and they know he can't do anything, they'll probably go into the weekend and see how he feels. They feel good that he can try it over the weekend. If they could get to it, at least move him around and see what he could handle.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported later Friday that Huntley missed practice with a non-COVID illness, further complicating the team's QB situation. Huntley is expected to play on Sunday, according to Aditi Kinkhabwala.

Jackson missed a game in the playoffs and a game in 2020 after testing positive for COVID-19 and a non-COVID illness, and he also missed a game earlier this year with a non-COVID illness.

When healthy, the University of Louisville product has been his usual dynamic playmaking self. He has recorded 2,882 passing yards, 767 rushing yards and 18 total touchdown in 12 appearances this season.

Huntley was 28-of-40 for 215 yards, two touchdown and zero turnovers in the 31-30 loss to the Green Bay Packers. He ran 13 times for 73 yards and two scores.

Without Jackson under center, the Ravens aren't nearly as dangerous as they could be, which puts extra pressure on their defense as they try to make the playoffs.
