The UK is one of the least vaccine hesitant countries in the world, with close to 90 per cent of over-12s having received at least one coronaviruses vaccine jab. With the country relying on a booster campaign to fight the omicron variant, it is more important than ever to reach out to communities where concerns over vaccination are more common, such as pregnant women and ethnic groups.
Studies show that people from ethnic minority groups are more likely to be hesitant about getting a vaccine due to historical racism and a lack of trust in the government and medical establishment. In the UK, only 65 per cent of people aged over 50 who are of Black Caribbean descent received two doses of the vaccine by the end of November, compared to 95 per cent of white over-50s.
