A report by the world's top climate scientists said that greenhouse gas emissions are linked to more-frequent, more-intense extreme weather.

Climate change and extreme weather have become the norm according to Christiana Figueres, the former head of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

A fraction of a degree is what the temperature records are usually exceeded by. In June, the village of Lytton in Canada broke the country's record high by almost 5C.

The northern hemisphere was alight too. The forests of Siberia were scorched by the largest blazes. California, which has had several severe fire years in a row, saw the largest fire in the state's history. Turkey and Greece were also affected. The record amount of carbon dioxide released by the wildfires helped create the warmer, drier conditions for these events in the first place.

Sicily in Italy saw Europe's warmest day on record in July, while Turkey experienced a new temperature high. The second longest river in South America, the Paran, dropped to its lowest level in 77 years due to the lack of rain.

East Flores in Indonesia was hit by a storm and a flood in April.

The event was made more likely by the melting of the sea ice.

Climate change poses a threat to our lives.

The floods took a heavy toll. The Chinese city of Zhengzhou received more than 200 millimetres of rain in one hour, setting a national record. Fourteen people were killed when the subway system was flooded. More than 200 people died in Germany and Belgium in the month of June. South Sudan has had three years of extreme floods.
