The arena known as the "Staples Center" for more than two decades as the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs played a game on Thursday.

The Lakers' championship teams of Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Shaquille O' Neal were synonymous with "Staples" in Los Angeles. The Lakers won the NBA championship in each of the first three seasons at the building, and then won three more titles in the final season.

The Lakers held player introductions at the halftime of their game against the San Antonio Spurs, with each of them standing on a plinth with six trophies on the court.

Three NBA All-Star Games were hosted by the center, with the Most Valuable Player being O'Neal. The LA Clippers forward dunked over a car on All-Star Saturday. Bryant's 81-point milestone in 2006 as well as his 60-point performance in his final NBA game in 2016 took place on the basketball court at Los Angeles's Staples Center.

The former Lakers players took part in a halftime ceremony to remember the arena's final game.

The arena that has housed the Lakers and Clippers for the past 20 years was sold to office-supply giant Staples for $116 million in 1997 for a term of 20 years.

On Christmas Day, the Lakers will play the Brooklyn Nets at the building. Multiple reports say that the platform bought the rights for $700 million over 20 years.
