Andrew Cuomo won't face criminal charges after a female state trooper accused him of touching her inappropriately

A female state trooper accused Andrew Cuomo of touching her in a way that made her uncomfortable.

The former governor's conduct was investigated by the New York Attorney General.

The trooper assigned to protect Cuomo was identified as "Trooper No. 1 in the AG's report." The former governor ran his hand across her stomach.

While he's walking and we're in motion, while he's walking into the door, he takes his left hand and I felt it in the center of my stomach. He's walking one way, his hand is in the opposite direction.

The trooper said that he felt violated because he was between his chest and privates.

Joyce Smith, Nassau County's acting district attorney, said that the trooper's allegations were "credible, deeply troubling" and that they were not criminal under New York law.

Smith said that the investigation was limited to alleged conduct at the race track and that prosecutors in other countries were still looking into other allegations.

She thanked the brave individuals who came forward and cooperated with the office and the New York State Assembly for their diligence and collaboration.

Rich Azzopardi, Cuomo's spokesman, accused James of using the investigation into Cuomo as a political platform for her own bid for governor next year.

The Attorney General's report was an intersection of gross prosecutorial misconduct and an abuse of government power for political purposes. The cancel culture mentality was started by her press conference, which claimed that there were 11 violations of federal and state laws.

Several women accused Cuomo of sexual harassment and he resigned from office. He denied the allegations against him.

An attorney for Cuomo said in an interview that the governor apologized to the trooper.

Attorney Rita Glavin said in the interview that the man wanted to apologize to the trooper. He has a lot of respect for her, and he never meant to make her feel like he was touching her in a sexual way or that he had violated her.

Glavin said that she felt disrespected and that he did something that was untoward. He feels bad about it.

The lawyer representing the state trooper did not reply immediately. Insider reached out to James' office to inquire about the Nassau County District Attorney's decision not to press criminal charges.
