The feature that allows drivers to play video games while the car is in motion has been locked.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation into whyTesla lets owners of its cars play games while driving.
The Battle of Polytopia, Sky Force Reloaded, and Solitaire were all played by the drivers of the Model 3. The vehicle has a karaoke mode and a drawing pad.
An NHTSA spokesman said in a statement that the agency was told by the company that it was changing the function of the passenger play feature. The agency said that "Passenger Play" will be locked and unusable when the vehicle is in motion.
The change is being rolled out as part of the holiday update of the company.
The New York Times reported earlier this month that a person who plays games in his car while it's moving has put a spotlight on distracted driving.
The NHTSA said that the Vehicle Safety Act prohibits manufacturers from selling vehicles with defects that pose unreasonable risks to safety.
According to the NHTSA, 3,100 people die annually in accidents involving distracted drivers.
The company did not respond to the request for comment.
