The omicron variant was cited as the reason for the decision by the subsidiary to support virtual opportunities at the show.

Amazon, Facebook owner Meta, AT&T, Intel, TikTok,Pinterest, Lenovo and Waymo are just a few of the tech companies that are avoiding in-person appearances at the Las Vegas-based show.

As of Tuesday, Sony was still going to attend the event on-site, while the situation was being closely monitored by the company.

The trade show will go on despite these developments.

The show had 42 participants that had canceled, which made up about 7% of the exhibit floor.

The Consumer Electronics Show has grown into one of the world's biggest tech shows since it first convened in 1967, drawing 182,000 on-site attendees in 2019. There are slides and a ball pit in the outdoor exhibits. The show was held online. General GM CEO Mary Barra and Walmart CEO Doug McMillon will speak at the conference, as will singers Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish.

There was aContra.

The chief executive of the association that hosts the show told the Wall Street Journal earlier this year that moving more of the conference online had some upsides, such as booking speakers to participate remotely is easier than arranging for them to travel to the conference in person.

There is a structure called the Tangent.

Significant new products are often showcased at the show. Some of the first flat-panel TVs available to general consumers are displayed at the shows.

TechCrunch reported that the show presence at the Consumer Electronics Show was canceled due to omicron concerns.

T-Mobile and others are opting-out of the Consumer Electronics Show.
