Just what in the world are these ankle monitors on NFL players?

You may have seen a blinking red light on one of your favorite players if you have watched any football games recently.

Some fans of the National Football League are wondering what the anklet could be. Are these players under house arrest restrictions? What crimes did they commit? It makes sense that fans would think this after players like Antonio Brown had issues with their ankle bracelets. Some fans thought these were StatCast monitors that helped the NFL monitor data. That sounds like the NFL would do that. The players of the National Football League have been doing it on their own. It makes sense that the NFL would implement some of their own.

Neither of these are the truth.

I contacted the NFL to find out what these things are. These monitors are not anything more than contact tracing devices. The Kinexon monitors were put on by players last season as part of the measures taken by the NFL to mitigate the effects of COVID-19. The red light is a part of the device's programming. Whenever the device is within six feet of another person, it lights up. The feature is meant to promote social separation among players when they are off the field. In the middle of a game, social distancing isn't something players can do.

Why are we only seeing these devices now? The devices have been there for a long time and players have just been hiding them. Most players have a pocket in their jerseys. The device is in some of the players' pads. Not everyone has the device on their ankle.

Contact tracing devices are used by other pro sports leagues on their athletes. The NBA has used Kinexon SafeZone devices before. Prior to last season, Major League Baseball had its own devices.

These devices are not indications of players currently under house arrest with conditions allowing them to go to their home fields for practices and games, and we should have known that from the beginning. One of the people seen in-game wearing a device around their ankle is a SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA is a SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA He used his time at the combine to raise money for a charity.

If there were criminal charges against him, I would be shocked. The man has a caring heart.

Kelley could have a chance to show off his device this weekend, if Austin Ekeler is out for the game against Houston.
