The Knicks signed Danuel House Jr. to a 10-day contract.

House was released by the Houston Rockets on December 18.

He will be able to play for the Knicks against the Wizards on Thursday. The Atlanta Hawks are in attendance at the Knicks on Christmas Day.

The Omicron variant is causing a surge of new COVID-19 cases and the Knicks are struggling to cope. Six players are unavailable, but two could return by Saturday.

The two returned from COVID protocols. That doesn't mean they will play tonight. Knicks have been cautious with this stuff in the past and they have gone a while without conditioning.

"I think there's so many variables to this season that you just take it day by day," head coach Tom Thibodeau said. There is always change in the league, but to this degree is different.

House will provide some short-term relief in the frontcourt with Kevin and Toppin out of action.

The veteran forward has averaged 8.8 points, 3.7 rebound and 0.4 blocks for his career. He's a 36.1 percent shooter from beyond the line.

Signing House is the best way for the Knicks to meet the eight-player threshold because of the lengths some teams are going in.
