The Matrix Resurrections was released in theaters on December 22nd, 2021. If you want to watch the streaming version, you have 31 days to do it.

The complete The Matrix trilogy should be watched before you start watching The Matrix Resurrections. The original The Matrix follows hacker Thomas Anderson / Neo as he discovers the truth about the virtual reality world he and fellow humans have been trapped in, a world created by artificial intelligence overlords in the shape of Agent Smith. The Wachowskis wrote and directed The Matrix, which changed how slow-motion action is filmed with "bullet time" and is responsible for such cultural references as red pill and blue pill.
The Matrix Reloaded takes place six months after the events of The Matrix, where a rogue Agent Smith is trying to get into a rebel ship. Zion is bracing for an attack by the A.I.-powered Sentinels within 72 hours, and it is up to Neo as The One to decide the fate of Trinity and the human race.
The humans in Zion go to war against the machines in The Matrix Revolutions. Neo has to stop Agent Smith from conquering both the Matrix and the real world. Who will succeed?
Succession.
Succession is a family drama and dark comedy about a media mogul who is dying of cancer and who is trying to find a successor for his billion-dollar company. It is a modern take on William Shakespeare's King Lear, in which the Roy kids try to win the affection and trust of their parents while they play games. You can watch all three seasons of the show on binge, because the finale was masterful and the show has been renewed for a fourth season.
8-bit Christmas.
If you're looking for a new Christmas movie, 8-Bit Christmas (2021) is a good one. Neil Patrick Harris is playing Jake Doyle, a man who tells his daughter a story about how he and his friends tried to get the Nintendo Entertainment System for Christmas. We can all relate to the trials and difficulties of trying to get a present that we have been dreaming of and not knowing if Santa will get the job done on Christmas Day.
In the Heights.
The movie musical In the Heights was the first blockbuster movie of the summer, but it did not make as much money as expected, but you can watch it again to learn all the songs. The movie is based on the Broadway musical and has a great soundtrack full of hip hop and Latin beats. Christopher Scott and Jon M. Chu are the team behind the Microsoft Surface "Movement" commercials, and they have created a dance routine that shows off a variety of styles. I don't want you to sing or dance.
There are hacks.
Jean Smart won an award for her work in Hacks this year, and it was for her portrayal of a diva comedian. Deborah finds herself working with a Gen-Z comedy writer who can't do anything right as her Las Vegas show makes plans to reduce the number of her appearances per week. Through some brilliant writing that is darkly funny and yet feels real, the two find they can learn from each other and create a more authentic show for Deborah. It will be interesting to see where this show goes in the second season.

The show is based on the family of the actress who was brought up by her Chinese American grandmother. The show breaks the myth that Asian Americans are over-achievers and highlights some of the tensions within the community. The show demonstrates what it can do when an app created by Nora and her cousin Edmund gets bought up by a Chinese tech company. The first and second seasons are available on HBO Max.
Wolves were raised by them.
The show Raised by Wolves makes you question who is the good guy and who is the bad guy. The show starts off with a story about two artificial beings who crash land on a desolate planet and give birth to some humans. They seem like a loving family until an accident forces them to cross paths with a group of human missionaries who are very suspicious of the androids. The audience knows the two groups have been at war for a long time and are hungry for revenge. The show has already been renewed for a second season, and it has a strong sense of foreboding.
Totoro is my neighbor.
I assumed the entire Studio Ghibli library would be on Disney Plus, but I didn't know. The Hayao Miyazaki-led Japanese studio has something for everyone and is known for its environmental messages. My Neighbor Totoro is my favorite film because it shows the world through the eyes of the sisters Satsuki and Mei as they befriend the forest spirits in their new home. I feel like I fell into the rabbit hole of my own childhood when I watched this classic, because it captures the feelings of growing up so perfectly.
