There is a change in the identity of the company. It was one of the strongest years ever, with the flagship of the year being the OnePlus 9 Pro, and the mid-range and budget models being the N200 5G and the Nord 2. The brand will have some major changes in 2022.
The OnePlus 10 and the OnePlus 10 Pro are both confirmed to use the fastest processor in the world, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. They'll be the first to use a unified OxygenOS/ ColorOS OS that combines them into one software experience. The identity of the company may be lost if they integrate more deeply into OPPO.
We've seen some official info on the flagship, and a lot of unauthorized leaks and rumors that detail everything from cameras to charging speed. Everything we know, suspect, or want to see in the new phones.
Pete Lau, CEO of the company, gave us an official release date for the OnePlus 10 Pro. He said it will arrive in January 2022. The first major phone launch of the year could be the upcoming OnePlus 10 Pro.
The phone's January launch may only apply to the Chinese market. The Pro would arrive in China in January, but only in March or April of 2022.
Most leaks and official announcements only mention the OnePlus 10 Pro, not the OnePlus 10. The base model could ship later than the Pro model, which is not something you see often in the phone world.
The 7 arrived in late May, the 9 in March, and the 8 in April. The brand's phones drift earlier in the calendar. In addition, the global "T" phone was not released by OnePlus in 2021, instead releasing the 9RT in limited Asian territories. It makes sense that the brand would try to make some money in 2022.
Why is China exclusive? It's most likely because of the software situation. ColorOS is available in China and OxygenOS is available in other territories. In China, the developers can simply push out the current ColorOS 12 build on new hardware, but in other places, they may need more time to implement the new hybrid Color/Oxygen software.
We haven't heard any leaks about pricing. Current leaks suggest that the phones won't offer major spec upgrades. The S22 and iPhone 13 series will likely have lower prices than the two phones.
Design and cameras.
The leaked renders of the OnePlus 10 Pro Source are from OnLeaks.
The camera module will be the only difference between the flagship and the previous one. While the 9 Pro had a tall module that was isolated in the top- left-back, the 10 Pro module may have a square shape that can be found on the side of the phone.
The phone will have a 48MP main sensor, 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and 8MP telephoto lens with 3.3x zoom, according to the leaked phone's specifications. The brand is mostly standing pat, with those numbers all equal to what the Pro had.
We were hoping for a periscope lens for the 10 Pro. The current telephoto camera is weak in low light and lacks the resolution for a useful hybrid zoom. The brand is losing ground to other manufacturers.

The 9 series' 2MP sensor gave extra detail for black-and-white shots. Most people never use that tool. We're happy to see that the OnePlus will stick to a core set of three sensors, instead of using a "sticker cameras" model.
The one upgrade is the selfie camera, which has a hole-punch cutout in the top- left of the display. The phone with a 16MP lens has a 32MP sensor, but the one with the 10 Pro has a 32MP sensor. We hope the upgraded sensor will give you new tools like 4K video recording, Nightscape, or a wider angle, because selfies were a weakness of the 9 Pro.
It's likely that the OnePlus 10 will have 48MP and 50MP ultra-wide sensors, minus the 8MP telephoto lens. It might get the upgraded selfie cam as well.
Performance and specifications.
The source of the processor is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
There are rumors that the OnePlus 10 and 10 Pro will have upgraded batteries and charging speeds. Their displays and memory should not change.
The Arm v9 architecture of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is more efficient than the 5nm version of the same chip in the OnePlus 9. It has a 3.0 GHz core clock, three 2.5 GHz cores, and four energy efficient A510 cores. These deliver 20% better performance and 30% better energy efficiency.
It has a brand-new graphics card with better gaming performance and better efficiency. It's ready for blazing-fast connections with the addition of an X65 modem.
There are rumors that the 10 Pro will have a 5,000mAh battery, which is more than the 4,500mAh in the 9 Pro. The battery life of the 9 Pro was sub-par, with idling draining whenever you had QHD+ resolution enabled. The extra battery capacity and improved efficiency of the Snapdragon should help.

The only question is how much of a boost the OnePlus 10 will get. The leak indicated that the OnePlus 10 will have 125W wired charging, nearly double the 65W Warp Charge on the OnePlus 9.
It will have 80W wired charging, a smaller but still significant upgrade, according to a Weibo leak. This source says that it will retain the same 50W wireless charging.
The new 125W charging tech that was revealed by OPPO in 2020 could charge a 4,000mAh phone in 20 minutes. The AirVOOC 65W wireless charger could refill the phone in 30 minutes. The tech might not be ready for consumer use, but this gives some credence to the first leak.
The 10 Pro model is one of the leaks that touch on it. We're pretty sure the base of the phone will get the same charging and battery changes. We don't know if that is true.
The leaked spec for the upcoming OnePlus 10 Pro shows a curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 12GB of RAM, and 128GB of base storage.
As of yet, leakers haven't covered the base specifications of the phone. Expect a FHD+ 120Hz display, 8GB of RAM, a base 128GB of storage, and an in-display fingerprint sensor, but it isn't likely to change from the 9's specifications.
There is software.
Harish Jonnalagadda is a ColorOS 12 source.
We know for certain that the unified OS will be OxygenOS and ColorOS. OxygenOS 12 is a watered-down version of ColorOS 12 because of the OPPO merger, which has disappointed some of its core fans. The new unified OS will be the first to be released in 2022, and it could affect people's appreciation of the phone no matter how powerful it is.
The OnePlus 10 should get three OS updates to ColorOS 15 in 2025, as well as four years of security updates through early 2026, based on the update policies for its flagships.
We want to see features.

We have a good idea of how the phones will perform and what the software will be like. There are many ways that the brand could improve on its lineup in 2021. Our wish list is here.
Computational photography features are better.
The primary and ultrawide cameras of the OnePlus 9 Pro take good-looking photos in most conditions. The most recent flagship of the company benefits from nice-to-have extras like 120 frames per second slow-mo video at 4K resolution. When it comes to more advanced computational features, the company's flagships have fallen behind their competitors. The Nightscape mode is great, but panorama and portrait modes are more error prone than the competition.
One Shot mode, which captures imagery from multiple cameras at once, automatically saves the best captures, is extravagant, but not as extravagant as the one offered by OnePlus. This is one area we'd expect to see more development in as the company's partnership with Hasselblad grows.

At the start of the 21st century, there was a dire reputation for software updates on anything besides flagship phones. Flagships now have three years of platform updates and four years of security patches, which is an improvement over the past year.
The company still lags behind when it comes to security patches for the operating system. The pace of security patches is slowed a few months after each new phone's launch, even on its most expensive phones. Security is a vital part of support for a device in the long term, not as sexy as new OS or feature updates.

For the past couple of generations, the "vanilla" OnePlus flagship has largely been steamrolled over by the "Nord" series, boasting comparable features and performance at a significantly lower price. The regular, non-Pro OnePlus 8 was a tough sell when compared to the OGNord.
The 10 series might be a good example of how to do things differently. According to the latest leaks, the smaller of the two Pixels lacks a few major hardware features compared to the larger 'Pro'. The smaller phone from the search engine will have the same impressive 50- and 12-megapixel main and ultrawide cameras as the Pro, but with a slight upgrade to the telephoto and selfies capabilities.

OxygenOS and ColorOS will share a common software foundation. The OxygenOS 11.3 software is just ColorOS 11.3 and has a fresh coat of paint. We're hoping the community focus of OxygenOS won't be lost as the two brands work more closely together.
Innovative features like Zen Mode, which enforces digital downtime when you need to, have been formed out of the relationship with the community. As a result, OnePlus is now a major player in the Western market and a sub-brand of Oppo. We're hoping that this new status won't hurt the community features.
Competitive pricing.
The scale of parent brand Oppo is more than it was when it was a completely independent brand. We're hoping that this additional scale will help the OnePlus 10 series to strike a more competitive price point against the likes ofSamsung in the U.S. market, where its last round of flagships was positioned perilously close to the Korean firm's mighty.
The problem for the company is that they have a longer software support lifespan and a larger battery. To stay competitive at the high end in 2022, the company will need to make up the cap with more advanced hardware or lower prices.
