Adata teases the first M.2 SSDs.

A data image.

Ahead of January's big event, both Adata and SAMSUNG are teasing the new version of their products. The new generation of solid state storage is twice as fast as the fastest drives.

Two prototypes of Adata's first NVMe M.2 SSDs with capacities up to 8 terabytes were teased. The so-called Project Nighthawk is designed with a Silicon Motion SM2508 controller that can read and write up to 14/12GBps, while the Project Blackbird is designed with an InnoGrit IG5666 controller that can read and write up to 10GBps. Unless COVID derails it again, Adata will hopefully provide more details at the Consumer Electronics Show.

The PM1743 is fitted with a proprietary controller that supports the PCIe 5.0 interface. 30 percent enhanced power efficiency and advanced security features are promised by the company.

The PM1743 is capable of sequential read speeds of up to 13GBps and sequential write speeds of up to 6.6GBps. The PM1743 will be available in capacities from 1.92 to 15.36 tb, and is currently being tested by manufacturers before mass production.
