The restrictions were lifted as Mr Mendy appeared at Chester Crown Court for a hearing.
The charge relates to a new person and is said to have taken place in July.
The earlier charges are said to have happened between October 2020 and August 2021.
The footballer, who has been in custody since his arrest in August, appeared with his co-defendant in Greater Manchester.
He is accused of rape and sexual assault.
After the 40-minute hearing, both men were taken into custody.
The trial was put back to later in the year.
Mr Mendy joined Manchester City from Monaco for a reported £52m, and he played a key role in the team's success.
