How to enable celebrity voices on your Amazon Echo

Amazon

Users of the Amazon device can ask questions about anything from the weather to Snakes on a Plane, instead of using the voice assistant. Users of the device can add a number of celebrity voices, including that of McCarthy and O' Neal. If you want to change the way you interact with your device, here's what you need to do.

Celebrity voices can be heard on your Amazon Echo.

Users can choose from Samuel L. Jackson, Shaquille O' Neal, and Melissa McCarthy. Each celebrity voice is accessible for a fee. The steps you need to take are listed here.

"Alexa, introduce me to celebrity name."
"Hey, celebrity's first name" is the wake word.

You may be asked to say "Alexa, enable celebrity name" when you first use the celebrity voice skill. You will be asked to choose between the explicit and clean versions for some skills. Say "Explicit" or "Clean version" with your command, or turn explicit content on or off in the Alexa app.

The wake word "Hey, Celebrity Name" works for most voice-activated Echo devices in your home. Fire TV and Fire Tablets are not supported at the moment. The celebrity voice will respond when you say their first name.

Without a compatible device, users can use "Alexa, ask Celebrity's first name." You can search for celebrity voices by signing into your Amazon account in a web browser, or by searching for the skill on your phone.

There are questions you can ask.

Once you've enabled celebrity voices on your Amazon Echo, they can respond to a variety of general topics, including questions about the weather, setting alarms, giving advice, and singing happy birthday. They can answer questions about themselves and their careers. Here are some examples of frequently asked questions.

"Hey Samuel, quote from the movie."
What do you think of snakes?
"Hey Samuel, how many times did the F-word be said in the movie?"
Samuel, who is your favorite Star Wars character?
Tell me about Bridesmaids.
"Hey, let's go for a ride."
Let's warm-up.
"Hey, play with paper, scissors, and rock."

Samuel,Melissa, and Shaq don't have the ability to use the voice assistant. They aren't able to help with skills at this time.

There are family-friendly voice alternatives.

The Tonight Show add-on is one of the more family-friendly alternatives that Amazon offers.

The Santa Claus voice can be used for free on Amazon. If you enable the feature under the skills section in your Amazon account, you can say, "Alexa, enable 'Hey Santa'." If you have an Amazon device that is in Kids mode, you can just open the settings section in the app, scroll down to wake word, and say "Hey Santa." Amazon added several Christmas-themed questions to ask Santa.

"Hey Santa, are I naughty or nice?"
Santa, sing a song.
"Hey Santa, let's sing."
Santa, sing up on the rooftop.
"Hey Santa, wish you a Merry Christmas."
Santa, sing the 12 days of Christmas.
Santa, sing Deck the Halls.
Santa, tell me the news from the North Pole.

If you decide you don't want to use celebrity voices, you can still use the default voice. All you have to do is say "Hey" instead of your celebrity.
