South Carolina defeated the second-ranked team in the country in avenging their loss in the NCAA Final Four. The largest comeback in program history was achieved by the Gamecocks, who came back from an 18-point deficit.

"It's pretty cool to be a part of that history," Saxton said. Without the coach, we wouldn't be able to handle business like we did.

South Carolina's victory is the team's fifth win over a top 10 team and its second over the second ranked team in the country. South Carolina is the first team to win both No. 1 and No. 2 games in the same season.

Destanni Henderson said that it's hard to compete with them because they get all four quarters. We're not going to quit.

Junior Aliyah Boston hit the go-ahead bucket with 1:04 left in the fourth quarter to give the Gamecocks a one-point lead. She finished the night with a double-double, scoring 18 points on 8-of-20 shooting, and grabbing 11 boards, in addition to her 5 blocks and 4 steals.

"I would be interested to see how many miles she ran in this particular game," South Carolina coach Dawn Staley said. She was all over the place.

South Carolina scored 26 points off 20 turnovers. She sparked the third-quarter comeback with five steals and helped hold the Cardinal to its lowest- scoring quarter of the season. Henderson had 17 points, 7 assists and 7 steals. It was her first game back after missing three because of a leg injury.

"They're very different with her," VanDerveer said. I would have been happy if she had waited one game. She was a one-person press.

Lexie Hull had 17 points and seven assists. Ashten Prechtel had five blocks and nine rebound and was the anchor of the Cardinal's defense.

The SEC conference opener for the USC is against Missouri on December 30. The conference season begins on December 31 with a game between Washington and Stanford.
