Elon Musk says he's sold enough Tesla stock to meet his 10% goal, after offloading another $548 million in shares

Musk promised to sell 10% of his stake in the company.

He sold another 583,611 shares in the electric-vehicle maker on Tuesday, bringing his total sales to about $14.1 billion.

He said in an interview with The Babylon Bee that he sold enough stock to get to 10%.

Since asking for a vote on whether he should sell 10% of his stake in the company, Musk has been on a stock-selling spree.

He said in the interview that he needed to exercise his stock options and sell more stock to get to 10%.

The billionaire, who was given stock options in August of last year, faces a hefty tax bill when he exercises them.

The world's richest man said at the weekend that he will pay more than $11 billion in taxes this year. His comment came after a fight with Elizabeth Warren.

The tax code needs to be changed so that Musk doesn't freeload off everyone else. She said he would be paying more taxes than any American in history.

Musk exercised 19.2 million stock options at a price of $6.24 per share. He boosted his stake in the EV-maker.

At Tuesday's close, the company's stock was up 4.2%, and it was last up 1.6% in Wednesday's premarket session. The shares of the automaker are up.

The filing showed that Tuesday's divestment was made under a plan called 10b5-1, which would cover taxes on the 2.08 million options exercised on the same day.

The boss has sold more than 13 million shares, not quite hitting the target of 17 million shares. Out of the total amount of disposal, 8.06 million were sold to cover taxes on exercising options.

Musk moved his headquarters from California to Texas because of policies that encourage people to leave.

California was once the land of opportunity. He said it's "increasingly difficult to get things done" because of the land of over-regulation.

The wealthiest person in the world is Musk with a net worth of $245 billion. He said in Tuesday's interview that he doesn't think it's interesting for people to know how much stock he's selling.
