The Los Angeles Rams won a game because of a chaotic week that coach Sean McVay described as worse than mind-numbing.
Despite placing up to 29 players on the reserve/COVID-19 list over the past 10 days and playing Tuesday night without three starters, the Rams defeated the Seattle Seahawks 20-10 at Sofi Stadium.
McVay said this week was a lot of work. This was a big win for our team.
With the win, the Rams improved to 10-4 and moved into a tie with the Arizona Cardinals for first place in the NFC West with three games remaining in the regular season.
We're in a good spot. "I hope we're in a good spot," said Ramsey. Hopefully we can keep going up.
The Rams went into Tuesday's game with 16 players total on the list, including starting right tackle Rob Havenstein.
"Crazy times." Miller felt shocked Tuesday morning after learning he cleared the COVID protocol. I didn't know what to expect. I took the test and then started playing 'Call of Duty' at 7 a.m. I got the call that I was cleared, and I was like, "Oh, snap!" I went upstairs to pack after I finished my game.
Nine players on the reserve/COVID-19 list, including wideout Tyler Lockett and defensive back D.J. Reed, were not with the team. The Rams' winning effort was aided by two costly defensive penalties that Blessuan Austin was charged for.
Matthew Stafford overcame a slow start to complete 21 of 29 passes for 244 yards and two touchdown.
Stafford said that the win was a total team win.
Cooper Kupp continued to make a case for an award. He set a Rams single-season record with 122 catches. Kupp's 14 touchdown catches are the second-most in Rams history, behind Elroy Hirsch who had 17 in 1951.
When asked if he was aware of his historic performance, Kupp said he had no idea. It's a great honor, considering the receivers that have come through this organization.
"He's a great player, he's having a fantastic season," Stafford said of Kupp, who leads the NFL in catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdown. I'm happy that I can play with him.
Despite Darrell Henderson Jr.'s activation from Los Angeles' reserve/COVID-19 list, running back Sony Michel started a third consecutive game and proved to be an offensive catalyst, as he broke tackles on several physical runs and rushed for 92 yards on 18 carries.
"Sony ran tough, physical and hard", McVay said about the fourth-year back whom the Rams acquired via a trade with the New England Pats before the season.
The Rams kept the pressure on Russell Wilson, who completed 17 of 31 passes for 156 yards.
The Rams sacked Wilson three times. Miller ended a seven-game sackless streak when he recorded his first sack since the L.A. traded for him last month.
Miller, who spent five days on reserve/COVID, said that his first game in his entire life was when he played in a game without any practice or meetings. You have to make the most of it.
Taylor Rapp picked up a pass from Wilson.
The Rams will have a short week to turn around and travel to Minnesota to face the Vikings on Sunday.
I am tired right now. McVay said that this has been emotionally and physically exhausting. We'll get some rest, and then we'll get back tomorrow.
