Singapore to suspend new ticket sales for quarantine-free travel starting Thursday

The health ministry said in a statement Wednesday that new ticket sales for travel without restrictions will be frozen.

The suspension applies to flights and buses entering the city-state.

Travelers who have already booked tickets under Singapore's vaccine travel lane arrangements will still be able to enter the country without serving any restrictions.

The health ministry said that the border measures would help to buy us time to study and understand the Omicron variant, and to strengthen our defences.

Sixty-five imported omicron cases have been detected by Singapore. The health ministry said there were six omicron cases in the country as of Monday.

According to the press release, the number of people allowed to visit Singapore without serving scurries will be reduced.

The health ministry said that the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and the Ministry of Trade and Industry will give more information on vaccinations.
