One of the strongest Jaskier riffs we get in the second season is called "Burn Butcher Burn", and it is our re-introduction to Joey Batey's wandering musician after we last saw him abandoned by Geralt. Jaskier has a new look and is back on the tavern tour circuit, but he still has a lot of hurt to deal with from Geralt.
It opens with a joke about how Geralt and Jaskier parted ways last season, and then throws in a nod to his most famous song, "No", which Jaskier would do with no. As the song builds, it becomes something of a mirror to the break-up song "Toss a coin", in which he needles Geralt for what he truly yearns for in a world where he abandoned one of his few friends.
Geralt was cast only by his nickname: "Butcher", after his brawl with Renfri in the early episodes of season 1. As Jaskier growls his way through the chorus, it turns into a sad song, as he feels the anger he felt when his friend fell away.
It might not be as popular as "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher", but it is more touching and character driven, and sets the stage for an altogether emotional reunion between Geralt and Jaskier in the season's final episodes.
The second season of The Witcher is available to watch.
