The end is here for Cam

Every football player has a time in their career when they have to face the reality that their career is winding down. It is time for us as the public to admit the same as the Carolinas and CamNewton seem to be at this point.

Many people felt this was a mistake, regardless of the reason, whenNewton was released by New England before the season began. Mac Jones and Bill Belichick went against each other and now Bill is looking like a genius.

The New England player missed time due to Covid. He was not the same when he came back. He was picked up mid-season in Carolina and his lackluster performance has continued into this year.

The first game of Week 10 was a win for the Cards. The quarterback was 3 of 4 passing for 8 yards with a passing and a rushing touchdown. In the following week, old Cam went 21-for-27 for 189 yards and two touchdown, along with another rushing and receiving touchdown. Over his last three games,Newton has thrown just one touchdown and four intercepts. In Week 12 he was 5-for-21 against the Dolphins. We all had a nostalgic feeling when Cam first returned to the team. It is time for us to realize that Cam can give you star-QB play in spurts at this point, but that is about it.

While in New England, the expectation forNewton needs to be changed. I think we can see that the end is very close after a five-game sample, even though many people pulled for him on the field. I don't think it's a bad idea for Cam to be a backup somewhere. I think the 2015 Most Valuable Player would make a great backup, and he could even have specific packages where he comes in for a few plays. I think that a package like that could work for some type of wildcat formation or run-pass option package. I don't think he would have a big issue with that.
