There’s a Huge “Active Outbreak” of COVID-19 at SpaceX HQ

The Los Angeles Times reports that at least 132 employees at the Hawthorne, California, factory of the space company have tested positive for COVD-19.

There is an active outbreak at the space company, but we don't know how many cases there are right now. The data includes cases reported since the beginning of the current active outbreak.

The public health department of the county says that SpaceX is a major employer in the area and accounts for almost a third of workplace COVID cases.

The news comes as the new Omicron variant of the coronaviruses is sending cases of COVID skyrocketing across much of the globe. The US is close to hitting records when it comes to new cases of COVID, with officials reporting almost 300,000 new cases on Monday.

Omicron made up more than 70% of the country as of last week.

The relationship between Musk and the coronaviruses has been strained. Musk forced workers at the plant to work despite restrictions.

In March, it was revealed that hundreds of carbon dioxide cases were caused by Musk's defiance.

Since then, vaccinations have been widely available for many months, giving workers significant protection against severe illness.

The situation is not safe. The officials are warning that the effects of everybody becoming ill at the same time could be devastating.
