Biden Tests Negative For Coronavirus After Flying On Air Force One With Covid-Positive Staffer

The president shared an Air Force One flight with a White House official who later tested positive for Covid-19, though the president has since tested negative at least twice, the White House Press Secretary said in a statement Monday.

The president was in close proximity to the staffer for about 30 minutes during the flight from Orangeburg, South Carolina to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The staff member, who does not work near Biden, tested negative for Covid-19 on Friday but began to feel unwell on Sunday and tested positive on Monday.

The president returned a negative test on Sunday and a negative test on Monday after a staffer was diagnosed.

Biden will be tested again on Wednesday but will not be required to self-isolate, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The president will address his administration's next steps in combatting the omicron variant during a press conference tomorrow, according to Psaki.

The New York Times reported that Secretary of State Antony Blinken was forced to cancel a trip to Southeast Asia last week after a journalist tested positive for Covid-19. A meeting with senior Thai officials was canceled by Blinken after he tested negative.
