We have known for a long time that the family the duo have made for themselves will be introduced in the sequel. Jake and Neytiri will have three biological children, Neteyam, Lo'ak and Tuktirey, now that Jake is permanently Na'vi-fied. Empire Magazine revealed today that they will have a human adoptive son, as they try to explore the racial divide between Na'vi and humanity after humankind arrived on the planet.
The young boy who was dumped back to Earth in the first movie was taken in by Jake and Neytiri and raised as their own. The latter was displeased that the former did. Jon Landau told Empire that Neytiri always saw him as one of the people who destroyed her home and killed her father. You have a lot of dynamics playing out.
The most universal theme of all around them is being built by taking Jake and Neytiri. Which is a family. Jake is from the Na'vi world. They are like a modern mixed-race couple, raising kids who may feel like they don't belong to one world or another.
It will be interesting to see what the state of the world is when the sequel finally drops, especially after a few of them used their Avatar technology to forgo human form. It will be interesting to see how the Na'vi society handles Jake, one of the few humans left on the planet. It sounds like it's not well.
The sequel to the movie "Avatar" will hit theaters in December 2022.
