Last-place New York Giants shut down injured quarterback Daniel Jones for final three games

Affirmative action was taken at 4:04 PM.

The New York Giants will shut down quarterback Daniel Jones for the rest of the season because of a neck injury.

Jones' third professional season is over before it ends, but there is hope that it won't affect his long-term future. Shepard was placed on injured reserve along with Jones.

"Over the course of the past few weeks, Daniel has been examined by two different doctors," the statement said. Daniel has not been cleared for contact at this point, and our medical team has continued to consult with Dr. Watkins and Dr. Cammisa regarding Daniel's condition and symptoms.

Daniel was placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the season. We expect a full recovery with continued rest and treatment.

Without Jones, the Giants have struggled and are currently in a three-game skid. In the three losses, backup quarterback Mike Glennon failed to top 200 yards passing and was picked off three times.

Glennon threw for 99 yards in the loss. There were a few times when we moved the ball well and then just ended up with field goals, and then a few dumb decisions on my end forcing the ball that were not good decisions.

Jake Fromm was the third-string quarterback. There are three games left for the Giants.
