Marvel's New Punisher Comic Might Make Him a Villain

The problem with the Punisher has been going on for a long time. Police officers and members of the military services have appropriated the skull logo of the violent avenger for years, and still call him one of their heroes because of his ability to act outside of the justice system as judge, jury, and executioner.

The character in July's The Punisher 13 ripped his skull icon off of a police officer's car in order to distance himself from real-world authority figures who have taken it. The synopsis is here.

Frank Castle has become the most accomplished killer the world has ever seen. He was fated to serve the Beast after a shocking secret pushed him to become the leader of the Hand. He takes up his sword and armor with the most notorious clan of assassins in the Marvel Universe, and there is tragedy, war, and rage. Will it mean an end for the man? Or a new beginning?

By putting the character under the direct employ of a demon as part of a group of evil assassins, it seems like it is doing two things. The company has tried before to make the character more realistic, and this time they are going to make the character more violent, by making him use a sword and armor. He is getting a new skull logo on his chest.
