The New England coach said that the Colts receiver should have been ejected from the game for pushing the official.

After reviewing his team's 27-17 loss to the Colts, the New England coach spoke for the first time about the third-quarter ejections of safety Kyle Dugger and receiver Michael Pittman Jr.

After a running play, Dugger and Pittman scrapped and it became a larger scrum. As order was being restored, Hilton was seen pushing TraBlake to the ground.

Dugger and Pittman were ejected.

Both players were ejected. I understand that. I don't understand why T.Y. Hilton wasn't ejected for contacting an official. That has no bearing on the play. He said that those plays are reviewed.

You would have to talk to the officials about that. They are the ones who made the call.

The rule change allowed the league's command center in New York to remove players for punching or fighting.

The video of the Dugger/Pittman scrum was reviewed by the command center to assist the referee in his decision-making process, but not taken action with the Colts' No. 2 receiver, TY Hilton.

I don't see why T.Y. Hilton wasn't ejected. He pushed an official. That was clear. That wasn't called. He said that it was a clear-cut ejection.

The situations similar to Dugger and Pittman have been talked about by the players.

As for what led up to the two being ejected after a 7-yard run by Jonathan Taylor, Belichick shared his viewpoint.

"Pittman comes from behind, Kyle turns around, there's an exchange," he said. Pittman's helmet was off, he was trying to put his helmet on as he approached Kyle at the end of the play. I don't know if Kyle knocked it off or it would have come off anyway, but it came off pretty quickly.

The shoving of Pittman from behind by Kyle Van Noy was not included in the explanation.

The league will review the play and determine if any players will be fined.

An apology for his postgame news conference was the surprise of the Monday morning video conference.

The team didn't play well enough and the coach didn't do a good enough job, that's what the coach said after fielding questions for more than six minutes.

I've said it five times. He said we didn't do anything well enough to win.

The opening question in the video conference was supposed to be taken by the coach, but he opened with a comment.

He apologized if it seemed like he was a little short with you after the game. It was a frustrating game. Down 20-0. Didn't do anything well. There isn't much to say without watching the film.

We had problems in every area. There is no simple answer. The plays could have been better. The area of coaching could have been better. The playing could have been better. Any of that would have helped. Not really trying to be short, but there wasn't much to say. I don't know if there's a lot more to say. It's not your fault. It was a frustrating game.
