The periscope lens will be added to the iPhone in 2023, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
According to a research note obtained by MacRumors, Apple's camera improvements over the next two years will help to boost Taiwanese manufacturer Largan Precision's market share.
He has previously claimed that the 48-megapixel camera will be limited to iPhone 14 Pro models and allow for 8K video recording, up from 4K currently. He said that these 8K videos would be good for viewing on the Apple headset that is expected to launch next year.
The process known as pixel binning could be used to achieve both 48- and 12-megapixel outputs for the iPhone 14 Pro models. The ability to shoot 48- and 12-megapixel photos in bright and low-light conditions could be achieved with the use of thePixel Binning feature.
The way for increased optical zoom is likely to be paved by the fact that at least one iPhone 15 model will gain a periscope lens in 2023. This lens would allow for increased optical zoom while maintaining a compact design, because the light absorbed by the image sensor is folded.
The P40 Pro+ has a periscope lens with up to 10x optical zoom, while the iPhone 13 Pro has a 3x optical zoom.
