Moderna says its booster significantly increases antibody levels against the Omicron variant

Moderna said Monday that a third dose of the vaccine increases the levels of the Omicron variant.

The company said that it has found that a 50 microgram dose of its vaccine increased the level of antibodies by 37 times. It said that a full dose of 100 micrograms boosted the levels of the antibody.
The data so far has been "reassuring" according to the CEO. The data was taken from the lab tests of the people who received the vaccine. The participants received different dosages of the vaccine and had low levels of neutralizing antibodies before they received it. The paper would be based on the results.

Moderna said it is working on a booster vaccine.
Bancel said that they will continue to share data with public health authorities to help them make evidence-based decisions on the best vaccine strategies.
Pfizer and BioNTech said earlier this month that a third dose of their vaccine was needed to protect against the Omicron variant.
They said that the vaccine may not be enough to protect against infections.
The Omicron variant has been spreading quickly.
"It's like we haven't seen anything like it since the Pandemic started." Eric Topol is the director of the research institute. He said that the US is going to have a bad winter.

In the worst impacted countries, hospitalization and deaths have remained relatively low. This could be a sign that the vaccine is working to reduce the impact of the outbreak.
