Federal parliamentarians from across the political spectrum have pleaded with the Western Australian government to strengthen new state laws designed to protect Aboriginal heritage.

The joint standing committee on northern Australia wrote to the Aboriginal affairs minister of the state of Western Australia to express their concern about the bill.

The committee conducted a review into the destruction of the cultural site at Juukan Gorge. The new bill falls short of the reforms advocated in the final report of the committee, according to the chair.

The committee's recommendations called for integrity with the principles of free, prior and informed consent by Indigenous people, and the bill gives the Minister the ultimate power to decide whether mining or other activities can go ahead if traditional owners are present.

The consultation process behind the WA bill was not centred on culturally based protocols, was not undertaken in language and was not linked to elements of Aboriginal culture, according to the ENTSCH.

Labor senator Pat Dodson wrote a letter to the Western Australian government after the bill passed, accusing them of failing to protect Aboriginal heritage and stop the tyranny of cultural genocide.

Bazzi lodges an appeal against Dutton.

The defamation action brought against Bazzi by Peter Dutton was appealed in the federal court.

Bazzi's lawyers said on Monday that he had only a small part of his claim before White.

His lawyers said in a brief statement that he would be arguing that the judge was wrong to find that Mr. Dutton had excused rape.

The appeal should be heard in 2022.

The defence minister won his defamation case in November after he was accused of being a rape apologist.

If the win was worth less than $100,000, Bazzi's lawyers asked for the costs bill to be reduced.

White ruled in December that it would have been better for the case to be heard in a lower court. Bazzi said that Peter Dutton is a rape apologist.

It included a link to an article in the Guardian Australia that reported comments by the Immigration Minister that some female refugees were trying to get abortions in Australia.

On the same day that he said he didn't know the details of the allegation of rape, a man published a statement on the subject.

The deaths of two children, their father and a pilot in a joyride tragedy has been described as a terrible incident.

The investigators from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau have begun collecting evidence after the crash in the mangroves.

The Redcliffe Aerodrome is where investigators will try and recover parts from the crash to send to the capital. The pilot and maintenance records will be examined, as well as recorded data, weather information, and witnesses.

Shortly after take-off, the single-engine light aircraft crashed into the water near the shoreline, coming to rest upside down. There were no survivors.

The state government was led by the minister for Sandgate, who is near the crash site.

He said on Monday that all of the investigations would be done and that they hoped to get to the bottom of what happened.

The majority of new COVID-19 infections in the ACT have been linked to the outbreak.

There were 13 new infections in the national capital on Monday.

The health minister said a lot of cases were caused by people who tested positive after arriving in the capital.

The Omicron variant has been linked to 40 infections.

She told ABC radio that most of the cases were interstate acquired, rather than locally acquired.

The vaccinations for children between the ages of five and 11 will be available from January 10.

There are an estimated 46,000 children who will be eligible.
