I’m Tempted: Finnair Plus Elite Promotion

Finnair Plus is offering an awesome promotion, whereby you can buy points with a 100% bonus, plus get elite status with oneworld, in the process. Since I don't want to bore OMAAT readers with everything, I want you to read the original post first.

Even though I really shouldn't, I'm tempted to take part in this promotion because of the Finnair Plus offer.

Buy 400,000 Finnair Plus points for $2,912.

The Finnair Plus promotion can be reached by purchasing 200,000 points for 2,575 euro. You would receive:

You are paying just 0.73 cents per point for 400,000 Finnair Plus points.
If you sign up for the program now, your status will be valid for roughly two years, since your qualification, since 100,000 Finnair Plus tier points is enough for Finnair Gold.

This promo is a great way to get oneworld status.

Finnair Platinum is earned by earning oneworld emerald.

Finnair Plus program allows you to convert points into tier points for up to half of the points needed for status. Finnair Plus has an elite tier that requires 150,000 tier points.

Finnair lets you convert points into tier points at a 3:1 ratio, with an added cost of 10 euro per transaction. If you convert 150,000 Finnair Plus points into 50,000 tier points, you will get top tier oneworld Emerald status.

You would get oneworld Emerald perks if you had 250,000 points and Finnair Platinum status. Even when traveling domestically, this would include access to American Flagship Lounges and American Flagship First Check-In.

What could you do with those points? Finnair charges 80,000 points for a one-way business class award between the United States and Europe, so that would be enough for three one-way business class award tickets without fuel.

Finnair has a long haul class.

It gets even better than that!

I will ask Finnair experts to check me on this, but I can tell you that the value proposition gets even better than that.

Finnair Plus Gold status is a standard status perk and when you first earn it, you will receive four short haul upgrade vouchers.
You will receive two long haul upgrade vouchers and four short haul upgrade vouchers when you earn Finnair Plus Platinum status.
Finnair Plus Platinum members can give someone a gift of Gold status, plus four short haul upgrade vouchers.

You will get a minimum of two long haul upgrade vouchers and 12 short haul upgrade vouchers.

In the comments section of the previous post, reader SSSSS notes that I can't vouch for this.

Finnair Plus has an unofficial status soft landing program, so if you get up to two years of Finnair Platinum status, you will only be upgraded to Finnair Gold the following year.
When you earn status, you get two sets of upgrade vouchers, one when you actually earn the status, and the other when your next status qualification year starts.

I will let the Finnair Plus experts fact check me on this, but it appears that taking advantage of this promotion will earn you 250,000 Finnair Plus points, more upgrade vouchers than I can keep track of, and oneworld Emerald status for one person.

The Platinum Wing of Finnair is in Helsinki.

The bottom line.

Finnair Plus is offering a promotion with a twist. You can earn status by buying points at the low cost of 0.73 cents each. You can earn oneworld Emerald status by converting some points into tier points, and you can also receive oneworld sapphires status for buying points.

You would be able to gift Finnair Plus Gold status to someone else, and you would also earn upgrade vouchers. It is tempting to be able to access American Flagship Lounges while on domestic itineraries, if I am understanding the promotion correctly.

Do you plan on taking advantage of this promotion?
