Spider-Man 4 Already in Active Development

After the success of Far From Home, the movie state of Spider-Man was in a state of disarray. The Spider-Man: No Way Home box office smash came about because of a public split between Sony and Disney over Disney getting more box office earnings from the movies about the wallcrawler. Fans were concerned if Spider-Man would not be in the MCU after this movie, because another chapter of Peter's life is about to begin. Kevin Feige has already made it clear that there won't be any company politics interfering with Spider-Man 4.

Feige said in an interview with the New York Times that Sony and Disney are starting to develop where the story goes next. He doesn't want fans to have separation trauma like they did in the case of Spider-Man, so he feels comfortable saying it now. Feige said that he loves working with Kevin and that he hopes it lasts forever. Before No Way Home was released, Sony and Marvel were going to work on more films, but for the time being, the focus is on the immediate follow up to No Way Home.

Each of Tom Holland's movies has a lot of scope, with big set pieces involving drones and dudes from other universes. When asked about making a movie about topping Peter Parker's recent multiversal madness, Pascal pivoted to how that isn't the best way to think about it. She warned that you couldn't think about topping yourself in terms of spectacle. We want to top ourselves in terms of quality and emotion. She said that the key to these films is that they can't lose sight of Peter being a normal kid thrust into these larger situations that will test his resolve.

The ending of No Way Home gives the next movie an interesting avenue for the character that wasn't afforded to this Peter when he first showed up in Captain America: Civil War. It gives us a lot to work with for the next film, as both Feige and Pascal are aware, with Feige saying that it gives him a lot to work with. It is possible that he will show up before the film is done. The fun part is when and where, and the part that we don't talk about.

The movie Spider-Man: No Way Home is in theaters.
