A couple wanted to change their baby's middle name to "Tess", which would have been appropriate given that the baby was born in the backseat of the family's car.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported this week that mom Yiran Sherry and dad Keating Sherry were on their way to the hospital when Yiran was having a baby. Keating was on the wheel of the car while Yiran was on the steering wheel, and Maeve was born when the couple arrived too late. Keating was trying to comfort the couple's 3-year old child, who was also in the car.
Keating told the Inquirer that he thought she was going to break his hand. I told Yiran to focus on his breathing. That was advice to me as well. My heart was racing. I said that everything was fine. Your baby sister is coming.

The Sherrys were worried about their baby, but a doctor in the hospital parking lot cut the baby's cord over the car's front seat, according to the newspaper's reporting. Baby Maeve was healthy and safe.
Yiran told the Inquirer that the nurses at the hospital called Maeve the "Tesla baby" because of the previous birth problems and that the makeshift maternity ward kept the family safe. The couple is going to keep the car for a long time.
Keating told the paper that he wouldn't be surprised if Maeve got her permit in 2037.
A look at how much humanity has advanced over the last 100 years.
