With the Jacksonville Jaguars looking for a permanent head coach after firing Urban Meyer, Leftwich is getting a lot of support for the job.
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports said Leftwich has a "big groundswell of support" to take over the team after this season.
Meyer had been relieved of his duties by Khan. Darrell Bevell is the interim head coach.
Meyer's tenure was more notable for off-field stories than for games. He was filmed at an Ohio bar with a woman dancing on him who wasn't his wife after he didn't fly home with the team after a game.
Josh Lambo accused Meyer of kicking him during warm-ups before a game.
It would make sense that the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars would be someone who could help bring out the best in quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Leftwich is an assistant coach. He was quarterbacks coach for the Arizona Cards from the year of the 2017-18 season. He took over as interim offensive coach after Mike McCoy was fired.
Leftwich was hired by Bruce Arians as their offensive coordinator in 2019.
The team has ranked third in points per game. They lead the league in scoring with 31.5 points per game.
