Carolina Panthers kicker Zane Gonzalez injures quad in pregame warm-ups, ruled out

Gonzalez was hurt in the warm-ups before the game at Buffalo.

Gonzalez went to his knees on the field that had been dusted with light sleet and snow as he tried to make a field goal. He had to be helped off the field.

He has hit 17 field goals in a row since missing a field goal.

The Carolinas went into emergency tactics to replace Gonzalez after he was injured.

The game against the Bills was in jeopardy after the injured Gonzalez was unable to warm up.

Onside kicks and dropkicks from short field goal range were being practiced by Lachlan Edwards. Reggie Bonnafon, Brandon Zylstra, and Linebacker Frankie Luvu practiced kicking off.

P.J. Walker missed a field goal before the game.

In 2004, Wes Welker made a 29-yard field goal for the Miami Dolphins in a game against the New England Pats, becoming the only position player to make a field goal in a game since 2000. Five different players have tried a PAT.

When in field goal range, the panthers could take a gamble and go for two points after a touchdown.
