Fauci said on This Week that Pfizer is in the process of mass producing the pill so it can be widely available.
The White House's Chief Medical advisor said that the results from the clinical trial are quite impressive and could help high risk people and dramatically diminish the likelihood they're going to end up in the hospital.

Fauci said that he doesn't expect to see a need for a hospital lock down as long as safety precautions are followed, and that some parts of the country could see significant strains on their healthcare systems.
Fauci urged that mask wearing and being vaccined are essential to prevent getting ill and spreading the virus to someone else.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 61% of the US population is fully vaccineed against Covid-19, and roughly 29% have received a booster dose, which Fauci and other health officials have said is the best way to prevent infections from the omicron variant. The country will report over one million infections in the week ending December 25 according to the CDC. The state of New York broke its record for the most daily Covid-19 cases reported on Friday and Saturday.

The FDA has yet to approve Pfizer's pill and a similar medicine from Merck. The FDA advisory board recommended emergency use for the company. Pfizer applied for emergency use of their pill.
The FDA Panel recommended the use of the Covid-19 Antiviral Pill.
New York State has the highest number of daily covid cases.
