Gift Guide: 6 entrepreneurs tell us what they really want this year

The holiday gift guide from TechCrunch is here. Do you need help with gift ideas? We have a lot of them. You can find our other guides here.

The great resignation, in which tens of millions of people left their jobs in pursuit of other opportunities, defined the year 2021. Some people made their next career move into a personal one, by going solo. As a result, we have seen the rise of solopreneurs, either as a business owner, investor, or even a journalist choosing to start their own publication.

I surveyed a few solopreneurs to see what their holiday wish lists looked like. We didn't know what to expect, but we got a fun, thoughtful, and eclectic list of ideas; some focusing on productivity, others on comfort, and others on self-care. If there is a running thread between them, it is this: if you are going to do things yourself, take care of yourself.

The office setup theme continues with the desk shelf system from Grovemade. I am not surprised that my ability to meet deadlines is related to how inspiring my desk space is. Who could not use a refresh to improve their ergonomics?

The price starts at $240.

The image is called Nalgene.

Gay said that this water bottle is her favorite because it is light, plastic and comes in a lot of colors. If you use an app to keep track of how many liters of water you drink per day, one bottle is 1 liter. She said you are welcome.

The price is $12 from Nalgene.

Elizabeth Grain-Free Granola is Purely Elizabeth.

Our first snack item is finally on the list. Gay picked the Purely Elizabeth Grain-free Granola because it is on the healthier end of sugar-packed options. She says she looks forward to it every day, which is more than my daily ice cream sandwich.

$7 from Purely Elizabeth.

We are ending her section with a yoga mat. The company claims that it is free of all harmful substances, as well as dry and slip free. She said that the yoga mat is perfect if you have to take it places. It is thick enough for a home table and squishy enough for a long savasana.

A rower.

Conwell said that a rower works almost as a game system. I am interested in rowing away from zombies, and mixing competition with low-impact workouts, as the VC says, but I don't have a witty retort to that.

The range is from $2,199 to $2,499.

Good Mylk.

GoodMylk is the image credit.

GoodMylk is trying to change that, because plant-based milk and foamy lattes don't seem to go together well. Conwell is an investor in a company that makes the healthiest alternative milk on the market. GoodMylk helps people who like the taste of homemade almond, oat and hemp milk recreate the product without the hassle of a cheese cloth. Brooke Rewa discovered a way to make alternative milk fast.

The founder of the Zane Venture Fund is Shila Nieves Burney.

A 6 month trip to an island to work.

There is a view of the beach and villas. The island is called Cousine. Property released.

Burney said that being near water is very motivating for him. I am from Florida and live in Atlanta where there are no beaches so I want to be near water as often as possible for self-care and rejuvenation. It is harder to get Prime Delivery on this type of item, but it seems like island time would fulfill us all in ways that a frother will not. The investor said that she wants a spa subscription, which might be easier to give.

Please check with your local travel agent as this could range depending on how much you want to spend.

Regular girlfriend meeting.

We will be entering the year of 2022, so let's trade some meetings for something else. Burney said that he still yearns for the company of girlfriends to just be. She makes a good point that those are the easiest plans to not prioritize sometimes because you know your OGs will always be there for you. Your friends may be loyal, but they need your attention.

The price is priceless.
