England's captain, Joe Root, returned to the field after missing the start of the second Test in Adelaide because of an injury.
While not wearing a box, Root was hit by a ball in the warm-up.
He returned 18 overs into the day after leaving the Oval for a Scan.
It's not clear if he will be able to bowl off-spin because he's still in some pain.
He isn't able to bowl yet because of the time he spent off the field and usual seam bowler Ollie Robinson has been bowling part-time off-spin instead.
