Derek Chisora v Joseph Parker II: New Zealander beats Briton on points in Manchester



The 30th win of JosephParker's career was the 12th loss of Chisora's career.

The AO Arena in Manchester was the site of a thrilling fight between New Zealand's JosephParker and Britain's Chisora.

Chisora had to take a count in the fourth round after a great start byParker, who gained a controversial points victory in their first bout in May.

Chisora showed good character and bravery after being knocked down by a brutal uppercut in the seventh.

The British man made it to the final bell despite taking another count in the eighth.

With three knockdowns,Parker knew he had won the fight and got the decision by 115-110, 115-111 and 114- 112 margins.

This was a crucial victory for 29-year-old former WBO champion, and he looks to get back to world title level.

It is hard to see where Chisora will go now that he has lost 12 of his 44 fights.

Both fighters acknowledged the other's efforts when the result was announced.

"He was one tough guy and always came forward until the end, he was always coming for war," said Parker.

This was a repeat of their fight seven months ago, which was held at the same venue, but behind closed doors because of coronaviruses restrictions.

Chisora knocked out Parker in the first 10 seconds of the fight, before he fought back and won a controversial split decision points win.

In front of a large, passionate crowd in Manchester, the majority of fans were cheering for Chisora, but he was defeated by a powerful overhand in the opening round.

Chisora had success in the opening seconds of the second, but it was not long before he was tagged again by an aggressiveParker, who connected with a stunning uppercut, then another big overhand right hand before a sustained attack forced Chisora back on to the ropes.

In the fourth, Chisora took more punches but also the first of three counts when he was held up by the ropes.

In the fifth round, he used the uppercuts and landed a jab, left hook, and long right combination, as he continued to win the fight.

An uppercut knocked Chisora to the canvas in the seventh, but once again he ended the round on the attack, withParker looking in a bit of trouble.

Chisora had to take a count in the next round after being caught by another right uppercut and then losing his balance and touching down with a glove on the canvas.

It appeared that referee Howard Foster was going to end the fight in the ninth when Chisora was in trouble, but the British fighter dug deep to stay in the fight.

Despite Chisora doing everything he could in the last two rounds, he was not able to get the job done and the fight was over.

Eddie said that Chisora is not a human. I'll never know how that went. There was no quit in him. Both of those guys are deserving of a lot of credit.

It's a great performance. I'm sure Chisora will return. The man has positioned himself. The career is still kicking for Joseph Parker.

Richards won the IBO belt.

Lerrone Richards has won all of his contests.

Lerrone Richards of Britain became the IBO super-middleweight champion when he beat Carlos Gongora of Ecuador with a split decision points win.

Richards, 29, had already held Commonwealth, British and European belts at the weight and got the decision on two cards by a 115-113 margin, with the other judge scoring it 116- 112 to Gongora.

Britain's Jack Cullen was fighting for the European belt when Richards relinquished it to fight Gongora.

He lost to France's Kevin Lele Sadjo in the sixth round.

After a clash of heads in the second round, he was floored by a left hook to the body in the sixth. The referee stopped the fight when the Englishman got to his feet.

Jack Cullen has lost three times in his professional career.

The IBF super-featherweight world title should be held by Zelfa Barrett in the year 2022, after she beat Bruno Tarimo in the final eliminator.

In the third round, Barrett knocked his opponent down and went on to win a unanimous point victory.

Despite being in trouble in the second round, Alen Babic was able to get a sixth-round knockout win against France's David Spilmont to maintain his perfect professional record.
