The Washington Football Team got its first good news regarding the reserve/COVID-19 list as it returned four defensive linemen, including Jonathan Allen and Montez Sweat, to the active roster, the team announced Saturday morning.

Washington designated Sweat to return to practice after he was placed on injured reserve. He is expected to be activated off the list in time for Tuesday's game. Sweat fractured his jaw in a loss to Denver.

James Smith-Williams andCasey Toohill were put on the COVID-19 list. Chase Young, who tore his knee in a win over the Buccaneers, was the starting end. Toohill and Smith-Williams didn't play in Sunday's game.

Washington's game against Philadelphia was moved to Tuesday because of the COVID outbreak. It's a big game for the playoffs. The seventh and final playoff spot is currently held by Washington.

Washington has 19 players on the list, including its top two quarterbacks in Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen. Allen will return in time for Tuesday's game. Kyle Shurmur, who has been on the practice squad since September 13, will be Washington's choice if neither of them returns.

The return of the other linemen will provide a boost. Allen leads the team with 7.5 sacks, a half sack off his career best.

Washington's defense has played well. In the past six games Washington has ranked third in total yards allowed per game and eighth in points. The line is a major reason and it will be crucial against Philadelphia.

The Eagles have the highest average of rushing yards in the league. Washington can counter using a five-man line with a healthier front.

The WFT has used that look on first-and-10 and 137 times overall. Washington has used five linemen with one or two linebackers 50 times, second only to Cincinnati's 55. The WFT has used linemen on an NFL-high 24 occasions.

Sweat hasn't played in more than a month, but the coaches think he'll be able to play. He has stayed in shape. It's not clear how many snaps he'd get.
